My name is Sophie Dowell and I am a Sophomore at Grand Valley! I am a CSAT major, otherwise known as Comprehensive Teaching Science and Arts for Special Education. I am the Public Relations Chair for CEC which basically means I am in charge of making posters and signs for our events and CEC in general! I also work on promoting CEC to everyone in any kid of education-based class and especially the College of Education. Next year you will see me as Vice President which is super exciting! Hey! My name is Madison Fisher. This is my first year as a member on the e-board. I am currently a sophomore working towards a degree in Special Education with endorsements in Cognitive Impairments and Learning Disabilities. My occupational goal is to work in a high school resource room. In addition to CEC, I am also involved in the Students for Special Olympics Advocacy Club and the Grand Valley State Swim Club. When I have free time, I enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time with my family. Membership Chair Hi, my name is Carlie Connolly and I am the membership chair for CEC! This is my first year in CEC and I'm so excited to be a part of this amazing organization. I'm currently in the College of Education with my emphasis focused on Emotional and Cognitive Impairment. My end goal is to get my master's in Special Education Administration and work for the Michigan Department of Education. Student Advisor
Hello! My name is Monica Harris and this is my 5th year the faculty advisor for Student CEC at GVSU. I am an associate professor in the College of Education (COE) at GVSU and teach courses in universal design for learning (UDL), inclusive practices, and transition practices as well as advise graduate students with their master’s projects/theses. My research interests are in multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), positive behavior intervention and supports (PBIS), and vocabulary instruction. |
